Citing a report by The Wall Street Journal, the news agency Reuters stated that a major factor behind this loss is an accounting expense resulting from an increase in the estimated value of bonds that can be converted into company shares in the future.

According to the report, the company’s loss during the same period last year stood at $13 billion. The latest loss includes an accounting charge of approximately $72 billion—an amount that cannot be equated to actual cash operating expenses, as it relates to the rise in the estimated value of these convertible bonds.

Anthropic is expected to enter the stock market in November; however, following the release of these latest financial details, some investors are considering lowering their valuation estimates for the company to approximately $1.5 trillion.
