WhatsApp Users Can Now Share Instagram Reels Directly in Chats
WhatsApp Tests Instagram Reels Sharing Shortcut Within Chats
Apps

WhatsApp is testing a new shortcut that lets users share Instagram Reels directly inside chats—no need to leave the app or dig through your gallery.

The instant messaging application WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will allow users to share Instagram Reels directly within WhatsApp chats. This feature is currently in the testing phase, and the company has not yet made a definitive announcement regarding its official release.

According to reports, this feature will introduce a dedicated shortcut for Reels within WhatsApp’s media-sharing menu, enabling users to easily share videos they have viewed on Instagram. To utilize this functionality, users will need to link their WhatsApp account to Meta’s Accounts Center.

With this new shortcut, users will no longer need to open their mobile gallery or switch to another application to share a video; instead, they will be able to access Instagram Reels directly from within a WhatsApp chat.

💡 Key point

However, not all Instagram Reels will be available through this feature; it will specifically include videos that users have recently viewed or liked.

The purpose of this feature is to make the process of sharing Instagram videos with friends, family, and in groups faster and more convenient. This feature is currently being rolled out for the WhatsApp Android beta version 2.26.42.9, and the company has not yet announced a date for its final, public release.
