David Warner Becomes the Most Expensive Player in PSL History
David Warner has made history in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) by becoming the most expensive player ever. The Australian cricket star has been signed by Karachi Kings for an astonishing Rs. 80 million.
This record-breaking move has caught the attention of cricket fans across the globe, as never before has a player been signed for such a massive amount in PSL history.
Karachi Kings Play Big at the PSL 10 Draft
At the PSL 10 draft held in Lahore, Karachi Kings made waves with their aggressive approach. They managed to secure not one but two top-tier players in the Platinum category:
- David Warner
- Kane Williamson, the captain of the New Zealand cricket team.
David Warner’s contract, valued at three million US dollars, translates to approximately eight and a half crore Pakistani rupees.
From IPL to PSL
Interestingly, David Warner initially wanted to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, despite his efforts, no IPL franchise picked him. Feeling disappointed, Warner turned his attention to the PSL, where Karachi Kings grabbed the opportunity to sign him.
This move has not only given Warner a new platform but has also added immense value to the Karachi Kings squad.
Saim Ayub’s Offer from Karachi Kings
Karachi Kings also approached Saim Ayub, offering him a lucrative deal worth crores of rupees. Along with the financial incentives, they even proposed making him the captain of their team.
Had Saim Ayub accepted the offer, it would have been a unique scenario with David Warner and Kane Williamson playing under his captaincy.
However, Peshawar Zalmi refused to let Saim Ayub go. Even though Saim Ayub requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to intervene, Zalmi stood firm on their decision, retaining him as their player.
What’s Next?
This year’s PSL is shaping up to be more competitive than ever, with Karachi Kings assembling a formidable team. The inclusion of star players like Warner and Williamson is bound to make them strong contenders.
