Mianwali’s changing weather is leading to a surge in seasonal illnesses among children. Common issues like runny noses, coughs, colds, fevers, and throat infections are spreading rapidly, creating a noticeable rise in cases at local hospitals.
At the District Headquarters Hospital in Mianwali, Child Consultant Dr. Sadia Khalid shared insights into the situation. “We are seeing an increasing number of young patients, especially children under five. They are mostly suffering from colds, coughs, fevers, and throat infections,” she explained.
Dr. Khalid urged parents to take precautions to protect their children. “Keep them warm, especially during chilly mornings and nights. Avoid exposure to cold air, and if they develop mild symptoms, medications like Calpol can help at home,” she advised. She also emphasized avoiding the unnecessary use of antibiotics, which should only be taken as prescribed by a doctor.
Parents are encouraged to prepare their children for the changing weather by keeping them bundled up and ensuring they follow good hygiene practices to reduce the risk of infections.
