LinkedIn, the prominent platform for professional networking and job opportunities, has announced the introduction of new features that will enable users to monetize their skills, experience, and professional activities.

A key feature among these is “Advice Sessions,” which allows experts and business professionals to offer one-on-one consultations on the platform in exchange for a fee. Through this, some users could potentially earn $100 or more per hour, depending on the services they provide and the rates they set.

Traditionally, LinkedIn has been used for sharing professional experience, seeking employment, and expanding business networks. However, in a shifting market, many individuals are moving away from relying on a single job, opting instead for multiple roles and diverse income streams. According to the company, these changes have prompted enhancements to user profiles and the tools available to content creators.

The new features include the ability to highlight multiple roles or professional responsibilities on one’s profile. Additionally, the platform is testing a new feed format that prioritizes posts and updates from a user’s existing connections and the accounts they follow, rather than relying on content suggested by an algorithm. This initiative aims to help users stay updated more easily on the activities of people they already know.

LinkedIn is also introducing a digital business card feature, which users can save directly to their phone’s digital wallet app. This can make it easier to establish new professional connections during face-to-face meetings and to connect with one another on LinkedIn.

A feature dubbed “Advice Sessions,” designed for entrepreneurs and founders, will initially be available to users in the United States who hold a “Business Premium” subscription. Through this, they can offer one-on-one consulting sessions based on their areas of expertise and charge a fee for them. The company states that LinkedIn will not take a cut of the earnings generated from these sessions.

New features are also being introduced for content creators. LinkedIn plans to launch a new analytics dashboard that will help users better understand the performance of their posts. Additionally, the revenue-sharing program for video creators — which allows them to earn a portion of the revenue from advertisements — will be expanded. Under this program, creators can receive a share of the earnings generated from ads that play before their videos.
